Stainless Steel Gauge Root Valves Supplier

Gauge Root Valves are designed for connecting system impulse lines & transmitters. These manifolds consist of Single valve configuration which allows for easy isolation, calibration, block and bleed for gauges, pressure switches and static pressure transmitting instruments. These valves are rugged in construction to withstand high pressures and temperatures. The valves are rated for pressures as high as 6000 PSI at 200°F or 4000 PSI at 500°F with PTFE Packing. For a Higher temperature Grafoil Packing is used. These valves combine the functions of a tee, calibration valve, isolation valve and all tubing and fittings into a single compact unit thus reducing the number of fittings and space required for installation.

We at Pioneer Industries manufacture a wide variety of Stainless Steel Gauge Root valves which finds applications in numerous industries like Oil & Gas Industries, Chemical Industry, Nuclear Energy Sector, Petroleum Industries, Defence Industry, and Aerospace Industry. Available in numerous dimensions and grades. Pioneer Industries manufactures and exports high-quality industrial Stainless Steel Gauge Root valves.

Features of Stainless Steel Gauge Root Valves:

Frequently Asked Questions – Stainless Steel Gauge Root Valves

Explore technical engineering insights regarding multiport gauge valves, insulation lagging extensions, calibration procedures, and safety ratings.

A Stainless Steel Gauge Root Valve (also known as a Multiport Gauge Valve or Gauge Isolation/Bleed Valve) is an instrumentation block-and-bleed valve designed to connect pressure gauges, differential pressure transmitters, and pressure switches directly to process headers and impulse lines. It integrates the functionality of a pipe tee, process isolation valve, and calibration/bleed port into a single compact, one-piece forged body. This configuration allows technicians to isolate the pressure instrument from process line pressure, safely vent trapped fluid via the bleed port, and attach field calibration equipment without removing the gauge or disturbing primary piping.
A Short Pattern Gauge Root Valve features a compact body designed for bare process piping, uninsulated vessels, and space-constrained instrument manifolds. In contrast, an Extended Lagging (or Long Body) Gauge Root Valve features an extended inlet body shank (typically 4″ or 6″ long). This extension projects the valve bonnet, handwheel, and instrument outlet ports well beyond high-temperature or cryogenic thermal pipe insulation (lagging), ensuring easy maintenance access without damaging or cutting into pipeline cladding and insulation.
Our gauge root valves typically incorporate a 1/2″ NPT male or female process inlet paired with three 1/2″ NPT female outlet ports. This versatile multiport geometry allows: (1) One port for mounting the primary pressure gauge or transmitter; (2) One port for installing a bleed/vent valve or vent plug to safely release pressure; and (3) One port for attaching auxiliary test pressure gauges, calibration pumps, or dampening siphon pigtails, eliminating external tees and fittings.
Pioneer Industries Gauge Root Valves are engineered for severe process conditions. With standard PTFE gland packing, valves are rated for working pressures up to 6,000 PSI (414 bar) at temperatures up to 200°F (93°C) and 4,000 PSI at 500°F (260°C). When equipped with optional high-temperature Grafoil (flexible graphite) packing, they operate continuously at temperatures up to 1,000°F (538°C) in superheated steam, thermal oil, and refinery furnace lines.
The valve stem incorporates a two-piece design with a hardened, non-rotating spherical or conical vee tip. As the handwheel is turned to close the valve, the stem advances axially, but once the tip contacts the body seat, rotational motion ceases and pure axial thrust is applied. This completely eliminates rotational friction and scrubbing between the stem tip and body seat, preventing galling, seat wire-drawing, and ensuring repeatable, bubble-tight metal-to-metal shut-off.
To safely calibrate an on-line instrument: (1) Rotate the main handwheel clockwise to close the isolation needle stem, blocking process line pressure; (2) Slowly crack open the bleed plug or bleed screw installed in the side outlet port to depressurize the gauge cavity to zero psig; (3) Connect a certified external calibration pump and reference gauge to the second outlet port; (4) Introduce calibration pressure while observing the transmitter output; (5) Upon completion, vent the test pressure, retighten the bleed screw, and slowly open the main isolation stem to return the instrument to service.
Standard bodies are manufactured from ASTM A182 F316 / F316L forged stainless steel or ASTM A479 Grade 316 / 316L bar stock for maximum tensile strength and resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion. Wetted internal components (stem, tip, packing gland) are machined from heat-treated SS 316 or hardened 17-4 PH stainless steel. Full compliance with NACE MR0175 / ISO 15156 sour gas hardness limits is standard for upstream oil and gas installations.
Fabricating a gauge root connection from separate pipe nipples, tees, needle valves, and weld couplings introduces multiple threaded and welded joints, each representing a potential fugitive emission leak path and stress concentration point. Pioneer's one-piece forged gauge root valve integrates all functions into a monolithic pressure-containing body, reducing envelope dimensions by over 60%, cutting field installation time, and completely eliminating weld-heat affected zones.
Gauge Root Valves are widely deployed across high-pressure steam boiler drums, steam turbine header tapping points, refinery distillation column level instruments, natural gas compressor station impulse lines, chemical reactor pressure transmitters, and offshore oilfield separator vessels.
Every production lot undergoes 100% hydrostatic shell testing at 1.5 times rated working pressure (9,000 PSI) and pneumatic seat leakage testing at 80–100 PSI with dry nitrogen in accordance with API 598 and MSS SP-99 standards. Certified EN 10204 Type 3.1 Mill Test Certificates (MTCs) detailing chemical melt heats, mechanical tensile properties, Rockwell hardness, and pressure test results are supplied with every order.
