Pioneer Industries’ Brass Hex Socket are widely used in numerous industries like:
Expert engineering insights and technical guidance regarding design specifications, pressure ratings, thread tolerances, materials, and installation best practices for industrial Brass Hex Socket.
A Brass Hex Socket plug (or flush countersunk pipe plug) is a solid threaded plug driven by an internal hexagonal Allen wrench. It is preferred over an external hex head plug when the plug must seat flush with or slightly below the surface of the equipment body to avoid mechanical interference with rotating parts, machine covers, or adjacent fluid lines.
Pioneer Brass Hex Socket plugs are rated for operating pressures up to 3,000 PSI (207 bar) in 1/8″ and 1/4″ sizes, 2,500 PSI in 3/8″, 2,000 PSI in 1/2″, and 1,200–1,500 PSI in 3/4″ and 1″ sizes. Operating temperatures range from -54°C to +121°C with standard sealants, and up to +204°C with high-temp thread compounds.
Pioneer utilizes precision rotary broaching and multi-axis CNC machining to form the internal hexagonal drive. The corners feature controlled root radii and accurate across-flats dimensions that ensure tight, full-depth engagement with standard metric or imperial hex keys, completely eliminating socket stripping during high-torque make-up.
Standard offerings include NPT taper threads per ANSI/ASME B1.20.1, BSPT (R taper) per ISO 7-1, and BSPP (G parallel with O-ring groove or bonded washer face) per ISO 228-1. Metric parallel threads (DIN 908/910) are also supplied on custom order.
Because hex socket plugs seat flush, high-density PTFE tape (applied clockwise 2–3 wraps) or anaerobic liquid pipe sealants (such as Loctite 567 or 577) are recommended. Anaerobic sealants are particularly advantageous because they cure in the absence of air into a solid polymer that fills thread root clearances completely.
Yes. When properly sealed with anaerobic liquid sealant, the taper thread interference design creates an airtight, hermetic seal capable of withstanding rough vacuum down to -0.99 bar (-29.5 inHg).
They are CNC machined from high-tensile, free-cutting brass bar stock conforming to IS 319 Gr. 1, CW614N / CZ121, or ASTM B16 C36000, ensuring maximum mechanical density and freedom from casting porosity.
Yes. For high-volume automotive and OEM assembly lines, Pioneer can supply hex socket plugs with factory pre-applied microencapsulated vibra-sealant or Teflon-based dry thread sealant for fast, error-free assembly without manual tape application.
Because brass is non-galling, seizing is rare when proper sealant is used. If a plug resists removal, applying a clean, sharp hex key fully seated to the bottom of the socket combined with a brief application of localized low heat (approx. 100°C) to soften anaerobic threadlocker allows smooth extraction.
All shipments can be supplied with EN 10204 Type 3.1 Mill Test Certificates, thread plug gauge inspection reports, and Positive Material Identification (PMI) documentation.
