A Brass Pipe Bushing Male by Female (or Hex Reducing Bushing) is an adapter designed to reduce a larger female threaded port down to a smaller female connection. It screws directly into the larger port via its outer male threads, allowing a smaller male pipe or tube connector to thread into its inner bore, saving space compared to multiple fittings.

Because the wall thickness depends on the differential between the male and female thread diameters, Pioneer designs all bushings with heavy wall profiles that ensure ratings of 2,000 to 3,000 PSI for sizes up to 1/2″ and 1,200 to 1,500 PSI for 3/4″ and 1″, conforming strictly to ASME B16.15 Class 125/250 standards.

A hex bushing has male external threads and female internal threads, reducing a female port. A reducing coupling has female threads on both ends, joining two male pipes of different sizes. A reducing nipple has male threads on both ends, joining two female ports of different sizes.
