A 3 Port Direct Acting Solenoid Valve (also designated as a 3/2-way direct-operated valve) features three functional ports: Port 1 (Pressure Inlet), Port 2 (Cylinder / Work Outlet), and Port 3 (Exhaust / Vent). In direct-acting construction, the magnetic flux produced by the electrical coil acts directly on the spring-loaded armature/plunger assembly, overcoming media pressure to open or close the machined precision orifice.

Because these valves do not rely on an internal pilot diaphragm or differential line pressure, they function reliably across zero differential pressure systems, closed-loop gravity lines, low-pressure gas analyzers, and vacuum hold-down circuits. Available body materials include hard-anodized aluminium alloy for lightweight automation, CW617N forged brass for general compressed air and neutral fluids, and ASTM A351 CF8M / SS 316 stainless steel for aggressive chemicals and marine atmospheres.
