Equipped with dual solenoid actuators, the valve utilizes momentary electrical signals to alternate supply pressure between the two working cylinder ports (Ports 2 and 4). Once actuated by Solenoid 1, the valve locks in position mechanically and pneumatically until Solenoid 2 receives an excitation pulse. This bistable operation guarantees that heavy cylinder loads remain securely extended or retracted even during unexpected factory electrical outages.

A 4 Port Double Solenoid Valve (often configured as 4/2-way or 5/2-way / 5/3-way directional control) features Port 1 (Main Supply Pressure), Port 2 and Port 4 (Cylinder Forward and Retract Working Ports), and Port 3 / Port 5 (Exhaust Ports). When Solenoid A is energized, pressure routes to Port 2 while Port 4 exhausts through Port 3, driving the cylinder rod forward.
When Solenoid B is energized, the internal spool shifts across, routing pressure to Port 4 while Port 2 exhausts, retracting the actuator. Because the spool position is locked by the dual-pilot arrangement, no electrical current is consumed during steady-state holding, drastically reducing electrical energy consumption in continuous manufacturing plants.
