A 3 Port Double Solenoid Valve is a 3-way directional control valve equipped with two independent electromagnetic solenoids. The three connection ports consist of Port 1 (Supply Pressure), Port 2 (Cylinder / Actuator Working Line), and Port 3 (Exhaust / Vent). The internal precision-ground spool or poppet is shifted between its operational states by alternate energization of Coil 1 and Coil 2.

In 2-position bistable versions, momentary electrical excitation (as short as 30 milliseconds) is sufficient to shift the valve and lock it in state, eliminating the continuous coil heating associated with single-solenoid spring-return valves. In 3-position configurations (Pressure Center, Closed Center, Exhaust Center), the valve returns to a neutral middle position whenever both coils are de-energized.
