A 3 Way Single Solenoid Valve (3/2-way) comprises three connection ports: Port 1 (Air Supply Inlet), Port 2 (Cylinder / Actuator Working Port), and Port 3 (Exhaust Vent). Shifting is initiated by an electromagnetic coil on one end, balanced against a mechanical return spring on the opposing end.
In the standard Normally Closed (NC) version, Port 1 is blocked and Port 2 is open to Port 3 exhaust when unpowered. Energizing the coil connects Port 1 to Port 2 to extend the cylinder. De-energizing causes the internal spring to instantly reset the spool, exhausting the cylinder through Port 3. This fail-safe spring action guarantees immediate actuator return during emergency stop or power loss conditions.
