A 4 Port Poppet Solenoid Valve is a 4-way, 2-position directional control valve designed to alternately pressurize and exhaust the opposing chambers of a double-acting pneumatic cylinder. The ports include Port 1 (Main Air Supply), Port 2 and Port 4 (Cylinder Forward and Retract Connections), and Port 3 (Common Exhaust).

When the solenoid is energized, the internal pilot shifts the balanced poppet stem, opening Port 1 to Port 2 while simultaneously venting Port 4 to Port 3. When de-energized, an internal heavy-duty spring instantly resets the poppets, opening Port 1 to Port 4 and exhausting Port 2. Because poppet seals have zero sliding friction, the shifting response is virtually instantaneous.
