01 — Overview

The Brass Double Ferrule Front Ferrule is the primary fluid sealing element in a two-ferrule compression tube fitting assembly. Located directly in front of the back ferrule, its tapered nose is driven axially forward into the fitting body's 20-degree receiving cone as the compression nut is tightened.

Under controlled axial load from the back ferrule, the front ferrule performs a dual sealing action: burnishing against the body cone to form an impenetrable primary fluid seal, and swaging radially inward onto the tubing O.D. to create a secondary seal along the tube wall.

Frequently Asked Questions – Brass Double Ferrule Front Ferrule

Expert engineering insights and technical guidance regarding swaging mechanics, pressure thresholds, tubing compatibility, and installation protocols for Brass Double Ferrule Front Ferrule.

The Front Ferrule is the primary fluid sealing component in a twin-ferrule fitting. When driven forward by the back ferrule, its tapered nose coins into the fitting body's 20-degree cone, creating an airtight, liquid-tight seal, while its inner lip forms a secondary seal around the tube OD.

The back ferrule acts as the mechanical engine: it pushes the front ferrule into the body taper and grips the tube OD to prevent pull-out and vibration loosening, allowing the front ferrule to focus purely on fluid sealing.

Metric Series MPFF covers 2mm to 25mm OD, and Fractional Series IPFF covers 1/16″ to 1″ OD, stocked in packages of 50 and 25 pcs.

Manufactured from extruded brass bar stock conforming to ASTM B16 Alloy C36000 and IS 319 Grade 1 with controlled annealing for optimal ductility.

No. During initial swaging, the front ferrule undergoes permanent mechanical deformation onto the tube. Once swaged, it remains permanently on that tube. If cutting back or running new tubing, a new front and back ferrule must be used.

Slide the nut, back ferrule, and front ferrule onto the tube. Bottom the tube in the body, finger-tighten, and wrench-tighten 1-1/4 turns (3/4 turn for sizes under 1/4″).

Yes. They conform to international twin-ferrule dimensions and cam angles, making them compatible with Swagelok®, Parker A-LOK®, and other standard 2-ferrule systems.

Rated up to 5,000 PSI (345 Bar) matching the maximum allowable pressure of seamless copper and brass tubing per ASME B31.3.

Yes, certified helium leak tight (< 1 × 10⁻⁹ mbar·l/s) for high-vacuum and analytical gas duty.

EN 10204 Type 3.1 Material Test Certificates, optical profile inspection records, and RoHS compliance letters.
